I am really confused about what kind of paper can be published!

and whis is the definition of the " a repeated work"

Usually the criterion suggested for publication is that your work is novel in whatever field you are working on.A repeated work is the reference to the fact what you have done has been published by some author before.It is a good idea to do a through search in scholar.google.com to make sure that the ideas have not been published before.

Generally publishable material in CFD divided into two categories: 1. new method 2. new application

In the first category you must present new method in CFD, e.g. for solution of un-resolved problems, increase accuracy of present methods or increase efficiency of present methods.

In the second category you usually use present CFD methods for modeling new application or present new result and interpretation about present application, in fact in this type of research CFD is your virtual labratory.

Based on above type and your contribution and results you must select suitable journal for publishing paper. it is very important. For this purpose see published papers of each journal and its rank (impact factor). Generally it can be said that chance of publication in low rank journals is more than others.

Also, i think that due to increasing number of journals it is not possible to check all published work (for authors and referees), so we see several repeated work or several works without any nowelty.

Hi: Thank you very much! For example: a method have been appled to a heat condution in a rectangular region, i now use it into a square region, is it a repeated work! or i have only changed some parameter of system.

Yes it would fall under repeated work since you can get a square region from rectangular region just by changing the parameter.But if your method works two-three times faster than the work of that person it is not .

I think pure heat conduction is completely well-known problem in CFD and performing new work in this field (numerical method and application) is probably unlikely. Recently the inverse heat transfer and heat transfer optimization are open problems.

Also note that new application don't means only changing some parameters nuless your interpretation on results leads to new rules and valuable conclusion.

Yes, i am in the inverse heat transfer area. but i am still confused about that the algorithm have been developed by the other people , i have saw many paper has just change the two dimensional question to a three dimensional, or change the constant temperature to constand flux boundary conditions! what you say!

Dear

I don't have deep background on inverse heat transfer and so don't knowe what is state of the art of this area.

But based on my nowledge i think that application of inverse heat transfer idea in 3d-problems with complex geometries, e.g. heat exchenger is novel (see series of paper due to huang, availible from science-direct, in this field, i read them they are approximately the same with minnor differences while published in high rank journals(also the basic idea is very simple)) specially if you apply parallel processing and solve a practical large scale problem.

Also i think that application of sensitivity analysis (especially adjoint method) for investigation of sensitivity of heat transfer problems (linear or non-linear) to physical properties, initial condition, boundary condition and temporal and spatial grid sizes are valuable work or adaptive grid refinment based on sensitivity analysis is also.
