Anyone has experience with perfectly matched layer method?

I'm reading the papers by Hu on perfectly matched layer method.

I have a question that what the wave behave in the perfectly matched layer? What if the waves are reflected from the end of the computational domain and head for the physical domain?

It's only proved that the reflected waves are zero. It could be that the waves are coming from the PML to the physical domain, then these waves will not be stopped by the layer. Is that?
