Hi all!I'd like to write a 3D stedy panel code (later extended to oscillatory) for preliminary aircraft aerodynamic calculations. Can anybody suggest some good bibliography or free source code to have a look at? Luca

A very good book is:
Katz & Plotkin, "Form wing theory to panel methods" I don't know whether there're free source codes, but PAN AIR is so cheap that I would call it free. PAN AIR maybe a bit slow, because according to the book of Katz, the higher order singularities and panels that are being used in codes like PAN AIR, do give a higher quality solution, but the extra CPU time doesn't compensate for that. Maybe someone has experience with this code, I think it's steady btw. In the book from Katz you will find a way to make your panel code unsteade, with wake shedding etc. |

Thank you Gerrit for answering. Yes I have here on my desk the book by Kats&Plotkin and I must say it's really good. Yes I have read about PANAIR and the way they used to overcome the high number of unkonws for each panel. I'd like to use a Morino formulation with flat panels (at the moment) because it's easy to be extended to oscillatory cases. Luca
