Reservoir simulation

Hi Friends, basically I am mechanical engg student, I did my PhD in non-premixed combustion, recently i got one job which is related to Reservoir simulation(oil industry), i have some doubts here about my carreer 1. how will be future or scope for reservoir simulation related CFD, i am more confused,, i think it is not related to mechanical engineering ,, after some time in future i would like to move to univeristy prof,, can i get university position for this area.. 2. i want to know basic fundamentals of reservoir simulation,, what kind of diffrenetial equations we have to solve to simulate this etc,,,if some body is allready having exeperience in this field, please help me, i am more confused to decide my self..

Thankyou

Re: Reservoir simulation

Hi Anja,

since you have a PHD in mechanical engg, you would have an idea about fluid mechanics. knowing fluid mechanics in my opinion is the fundemental part for understanding reservoir simulation. the rest just depends on physics and mathematics. the first step that i would suggest is to read books of basic reservoir simulation and reservoir engineering. i would recommend two great books to start with but i can't remember the authers now. i would look it out if you want to.
