I've seen single airfoils are generated as c or o-grid in the structured case. The mesh quality are usually very good.

However, is it possible to generate airfoil in tandem arrangement using structured grids? Preferably, deformation should also be possible.

I've not seen such mesh before. Is it impossible?

Simply stack two C grids one above the other and you have a tandem arrangement.

with two C-grids it would be a block-structured grid and you need handling of block-to-block interfaces with your CFD code.

you can use a single block as well, as long as your CFD code has the capability to assign a solid boundary anywhere within the grid.

Quite right, I was assuming a block-structured topology. I should have been more explicit.
