Can anyone explain to me what "buffeting" means?

The vibratory motion of a component or the airframe as a whole when subjected to the vibratory impulses contained within an aerodynamic wake.

there seem to be more than one definition of "buffeting", but it always has to do with structural or aerodynamic (usually coupled) oscillation, as zhuzhuhua has quoted. on modern airliners, buffeting usually occurs as a transonic instability: the compression shock on the suction side of the wing oscillates due to interaction between suction side, wake, and pressure side. as the shock position oscillates, so does the force on the wing, hence the structural vibration.
