hi,

i would like to test my codes speed on my friend's new computer. i'm using visual fortran to compile my code. it's easier to pass him an .exe file to run on his winxp OS. however, i wonder if there'll be a great difference if he'll to compile on his computer and run it directly.

btw, i'm using an AMD athlon xp while he's using an AMD athlon 64....

tks!

Assuming the compiler on his computer would not take advantage of the chip architecture to perform extra optimizations any differences in speed due to compilation should be slight. If you want to do a speed comparison make sure you compile on your machine with no optimization, and see if there is a generic athlon cpu model to compile for. That would at least give you something like an apples-to-apples comparison.
