commercial packages (to be continued)
Hi guys !
Can smbd tell what polyhedral solver is ? (what difference with coupled/segregated solvers ?) Do you know which one of the 3 (cfx, fluent and starcd) is the most accurate in high speeds (aero, supersonic, low pressure...) that's for space application... many thanks ! |
Re: commercial packages (to be continued)
Polyhedral solver is all about mesh support - it has nothing to do with coupled or segregated solvers (those are solution algorithms).
In a polyhedral (FVM) solver you do not need to know the actual cell shape in order to assemble the discretisation. Thus, your cell can be a hexahedron, tetrahedron, pyramid, dodekahedron or whatever else you wish to have. It still needs to adhere to some regularity (weakly convex, no holes in the mesh etc.) but no operations in the code actually refer to cell type. This is done by performing operations over all cell (centres, volumes) and all faces - as you can see, this is enough to do FVM and it does not explicitly use the cell shape. Hrv |
