Hi,

I am working on a 3D-cylinder unstructured grid and I need to plot U-mean and V-mean profiles in the wake region of the cylinder at different points, ie x=(1.06) and y varies along that line. Since its a unstructured grid and a 3D i should first be able to interpolate in the xy plane and avg them over the z-plane that is in space. Can anyone help me with this?? Thanks swetha

hi you've not mentioned which method(finite element or finite volume) you've employed. if you've employed finite element method and willing to try some shape functions you can refer to Finite elements in Engineering Chandrupatla and Belegundu ( spelling may not correct)

(look first at 1D,2D and then 3D elements) though it is mainly about structural analysis it has good coverage of shape functions and interpolation methods or else if you are using finite volume method the above mentioned book will give atleast idea and may be a few "what if"s if not full solution.

For finite volume method you need not transform cartesian to into natural coordinate system
