Hello all,
Thank to new 'small' but very correct codes the basic CFD work is getting cheaper. Please look at the list below: http://www.adina.com/ (ADINA) http://www.sctetra.com/ (SC-TETRA) http://www.acricfd.com/ (CFD-studio) http://www.flowgrid.com/ (FLowgrid) http://www.ercim.org/publication/Erc...4/simulog.html (SIMULOG) http://www.simulog.fr/ (N3S, ESTET-ASTRID) http://fun3d.larc.nasa.gov/ (FUN3D) http://www.cfd.fi/ (FINFLO) http://elsa.onera.fr/ (ELSA) http://www.cerfacs.fr/cfd/avbp_code.php (ABVBP) http://www.nika.biz/english/home/homepage.php (EFD) http://www.aerosft.com/ (AEROSOFT, uses chimera and 6 DOF) http://www.cobaltcfd.com/ (Cobalt) http://www.nag.co.uk/ (NAG software) http://www.cfdthermo.hut.fi/ (FINFLO) http://www.softflo.com/ (Softflo, Flo++, moving meshes) http://www-berkeley.ansys.com/cart3d/ (Cart 3D) http://www.featflow.de/ (FEAT) http://www.metacomptech.com/ (CFD++) It could be interesting to start a new job or a new service on cfd-online: CFD-broker, CFD-supermarket. To help find the cheapest code for a given project. Advice: don't get rip off. For example a $9000 training course on VOF simulaiton and 6DOF for a day is not worth it. A good book, a professional development course at university with a professor and you will learn as much. Good luck! CFD-broker |

Price alone is a difficult parameter to judge any software/product. Other issues worth considering are:
Read more The commercial websites you list don't provide an easy measure of 'cheap CFD' as they don't openly quote prices... My conclusion from your listing is that CFD is becoming more competitive as more companies join the field, which will tend to force prices lower. |
