 March 8, 2007, 09:57 time step for inviscid supersonic wedge flow. #1 yaseer Guest   Posts: n/a Hi everyone I am solving supersonic inviscid flow over a wedge.I am using the maccormack predictor corector scheme for solving the problem. The solution marches ahead in step of time. But i dont know how to calculate the next time step. I have got " An introduction to cfd " by J.D Anderson. In the book there is formula given to calculate the time step in chapter 10 page no 457 based on the cfl criteria. But that is viscous flow over a flat plate. Can I use the same formula assuming viscosity = 0? 2) I also want to know if I can use the same algorithm for solving the expansion wave given in chapter no 8; to solve for a compression corner if I want to solve for space marching.

 March 8, 2007, 10:40 Re: time step for inviscid supersonic wedge flow. #2 Harish Guest   Posts: n/a computational fluid mechanics and heat transfer by pletcher et. al discusses the maccormack scheme in detail.You might want to take a look at that.Also when your viscosity is zero, courant condition determines your time step.The approximate formula is given in the book.I do not remember it on the top of my head.
