Pipe Flow and Turbulence

When solving for flow in a pipe at higher velocities, convergence for a pressure-based solver stalls at about 3 or 4 orders if we do not turn on turbulence. Shouldn't the code be able to converge and that the pressure drop would be much lower as compared to the experimental results.

thanks.
