I am searching a good and detailed description how to implement a multigrid strategy into a finite volume method.

It would be great if you could reference me to any PDF. THX

William L. Briggs and Van Emden Henson and Steve F. McCormick, A Multigrid Tutorial (SIAM 2000)

There's lots of material regarding multigrid there. That may also help you choose between geometric or algebraic multigrid...

You may also google internet for Mavriplis articles. He make lots of them downloadable.
