Can anyone spell out the acronyms or explain where some of the CFD code names came from:
Fluent STAR-CD FIRE CFX VECTIS etc... |

I don't know where "CFX" came from.
But I do recall that code was originally named "flow3d" (no hyphen). Flow Science, developers of "flow-3d" (trade-marked I think), objected. So CFX was selected. That goes back to the early 1990's. |

Punch "roman name for isle of wight" in to Google and you will understand what Vectis stands for.

I guess it has to be the first time that something has been named after the isle of wight, apart from the odd chippy and a ferry!
