Mass transport within a jet
According to a figure, the mass within a diffusing jet is increasing along the jet axis due to the entrainment of the still ambient fluid into the jet flow.
From the observation of a jet, I agree with the mass increasement due to the entrainment of the still ambient fluid into the jet.
However, is it against the continuity principle which assuming that the mass is conserved (Rho*Q)? I am quite confused with this. Anyone who know the answer, please help. Thanks.
