Time/memory requirement CFD

How can one find how time/memory a CFD job will take before submitting the job?

It really depends on the cfd package u r using... But, for memory, the equivalence 1 element/volume for 1 MB is acceptable... for time consuming, it depends also on the machine u r using...

Rgds...

0.5 - 1Gb RAM per million cells for mesh building.

1Mb per control volume is very very high ! Even for unstructured implicit codes. Expect something like 0.5-1 Gb per million grid points with a structured solver. Don't know the exact figure for unstructured solver.

As I said, it really depends on the cfd package... and the simulation u r going to do... U see, here Im devloping a code that couples lots of things from FSI to reaction... And it got a little bit bigger than I was expecting... Well, the important thing is that cfd softwares are both memory and time consuming...
