Hello,

Does anybody know how to use CFX tools such as Meshbuild, Meshimport to generate a mesh from a log-file etc. without opening the interactive part of the program (this of course applies only to Meshbuild), or can I create a mesh within curved boundaries in the userroutines (including GP)

Regards Oliver

Hi Oliver,

You can run Meshbuild and Meshimport from the command line using "runmb" and "runmi". There is an option to load in a configuration file into Meshimport from the command line - see p106 of the CFX 4.2 Environment manual.

If you are using CFX-Build to generate your geometry you can run it in batch mode (ie no GUI) using the "-b" option and specifying a session file to play. Refer to the same page of the manual for this.

Alternatively, you can not use the pre-processors at all. If you have a very simple geometry you can specify it using the >>MODEL TOPOLOGY, and >>CREATE GRID commands in the command file. More complicated grids can be specified using the user fortran routines USRGRD and USRTPL.

Hi Glenn,

Thanks for your responce. I would love to use Meshbuild to create a geometry file from a log-file which is 'altered' externally. I cannot see how to obtain a geometry file from a log file just by using command line options without pressing any buttons, just like in CFX-build. Could you point me in a direction how to achieve this?

Hi Oliver,

I don't think Meshbuild has an equivalent of the batch mode in CFX-Build. Try opening a log file in a text editor and seeing if you can work out the format - that will minimise the clicking you have to do in Meshbuild.

Cheers, Glenn

Hello Glenn,

My problem is that I don't want to have any clicking at all. Well, I suppose I have to use BUILD.

Thanks and Regards Oliver
