Hello everyone!
I want to get some aerodynamic results for some car like this: http://www.racecar-engineering.com/w.../03/upDTMa.jpg BUT with ability to modify aerodynamic elements of car such as splitter, canards, spoiler or whatever. I work in Matlab for years and pretty good in it, so it`ll be good if I have the opportunity to use it. Or maybe i need a 3dmodel of car? for example from 3dMAX. And work in another environment. What i want is some theoretical results for various car aerodynamic decisions with values of forces, which are pushing car to ground or conversely in air. Thank you. |

What you need is any cfd code… You could also do that with matlab in theory but since we are talking about a real car and not an academic case, I would go with a proper software…

How cfd code look like? Is it some "code", or something else?
What you think about OpenFOAM? Is it what i need? |

Usually every modern CFD code has a user interface. OpenFoam, on the other hand does not have one but it is still pretty straightforward to learn and would definitely be ok for your case. You would still need some basic knowledge to get (fairly) reasonable results though.

Thank you for your answers.
I have another question. How i can prepare model of car for this tasks? I have only images of aero parts, that i want test. |

Well, a cad or mesh model is the starting point for every cfd calculation… Meaning either you have the cad or you have a real model (and a scanner) or you design it yourself…

So, i got some models in skp format and converted them to stl.
Now i need to use snappyHexMesh i think, but i really cant understand how it works. Can anyone share some very easy example of mesh generation from stl ? |

Have you looked at the tutorials that come with openfoam? What's your problem exactly? You just need to set up the relative dictionary, put the mesh in the respective folder and run snappyhexmesh.

Hello, I'm a beginner in the ICEM CFD 13.0, I need to import the mesh to the output solver Fluent V6, but when I try to do that, this message appears:
" Error: Running FLUENT V6 Interface Vers. 12.0.1 Creating a Fluent 3D mesh. Error: Fluent format does not support 7 node HEXA elements. Error creating FLUENT V6 input file (file: ./test.msh) child process exited abnormally " Could anyone tell me what i'm supposed (or not) to do? |
