Default Question concerning flow3D

Hi all,

I have a question concerning Flow3D but indeed, I think it can be applied to different types of 3D fluid modelling software. My question is this: how do I diminish the impact or eliminate all together, a wave that propagates along the computational domain and reflects off the boundaries, that is created at the beginning of a simulation of free surface flow? Initial conditions for the simulations included gradual starting of the flow until the desired conditions had been reached but with no success. Also artifically increasing viscosity to dissipate the excess energy has been tried with no success either. The one thing that did work was using an outflow boundary condition (a boundary condition used for wave simulations that allows the wave to exit the domain). The problem is, this boundary condition gives unrealistic flows.

Thanks for your help!
