cfd project

can anyone suggest a project in undergraduate engineering level. and also the software on which to work.

Re: cfd project

it depends on your interests and resources available at your institute.

Here are a few topics which you may take.

Heat transfer and fluid flow:

flow and heat transfer characteristics around a circular cylinder

pure fluid flow:

Fully-development length in pipe and channel turbulent flows at different Reynolds number. Extension: Effect of swirl.

Fluid-acoustic:

flow-induced acoustics and its correlations in straight pipes.

You need a CFD software to work on such type of problems.

Hope this will help you,

thnx mr. kumar. for the info,

im very new to this subject CFD, can u give the idea abt the softwares???

Re: cfd project

Try Star-CCM+..

Because it is very very easy for engineering simulation..

But if you write your want to STAR-CD forum in cfd-online be sure somebody will help you..

I hope you will love CFD and STAR-CCM+.

Good Luck..

Re: cfd project

write to different CFD companies, e.g. CFX, Fluent, STARCD. They can definitely provide you a student version of their code. I would go for fluent or STAR.

Re: cfd project

I feel you need to have an academic license... check with ur institute... for starters Fluent may be good as it is very user friendly.. as u become more experinced u can surely try other s/w and compare there advantages over Fluent.

Re: cfd project

thnx mayur,, ur suggestion is very helpful,,,

my teacher is also saying me to get knoledge of fluent.

can any one tell, where i can learn fluent software???

Re: cfd project

you try Fluent Learning Center at this link: http://www.learningcfd.com/

where you will find a lot of information on Fluent's training programs, tutorials and examples. you must register to access this materials.

Re: cfd project

This short course also consists of a set of tutorials on using FLUENT to solve problems in fluid mechanics. It is very useful

Re: cfd project

most of the people learn through tutorials only... as I said it is very user friendly... get hold of there tutorials(ask ur guide on it) and a Fluent license and explore n u can learn fluent.

Nari October 5, 2007 19:51

Re: cfd project

Is Fluent userfriendly? Maybe.. Is Gambit userfriendly? Exactly NOT..

If you (all who tryed Fluent) just only one time try STAR-CCM+ you will decide more objective..

But it is up to you brother.. It is your choice..

Re: cfd project

ya... ur comments about GAMBIT is true..

I have never tries STAR s/ws so can't comment... right now I mostly use AcuSolve.
