Free falling film

Hi

Can anyone explain or give me a reference that explains why the thickness of a free falling film on a vertical wall does not changes as it runs down the wall?

Regards

Re: Free falling film

A standard text on vapor condensation on a cold surface may help you. In this case, though, the falling film thickens on its way down the plate as material is condensed.

For a plain liquid flow, I wonder if a boundary layer will form? Could be interesting to develop the same theory as for the vapour condensation, but take the incoming condensation mass-flux to zero.
