People asking about BSD-like licenses usually want to do something a GPL license forbids so OpenFoam probably does not qualify. This is not always evil, dastardly, despicable commercial activity to pay the mortgage and school fees. But it usually is.

Andy,

Clap, clap, clap...

i) You are misleading. You also make the activity you describe with a GPL-ized code. Actually, GPL is prefectly designed for that.

ii) Assuming that users of BSD-licensed codes are stealers is low-IQ imagination. GPL can hit a wall in some corporations at a pure formal level without any intent to profit of the work of others at the project level without acknowledgement.

I presume English is not your first language which is why you do not appear to have understood my post. In turn, I do not wholly understand what you are going on about either so that perhaps balances things up.

If I misunderstood what you meant, I apologize for my rude answer. But I do not see a lot of alternative ways to interpret your first post, unless you clarify it.

Jojo The question is not about your "rude answer" as you are trying to portray but it is more about understanding the terms of the open source software license, open source codes can not be compiled, implemented and sold under a commercial name without giving full credit to the original people who developed the code, etc...... You can get the source code, make any modifications you want but you have to make the new version available to other developers too. The linux operating system is a good example of open source codes not just openfoam, Salome, etc.... Why not get the license translated to you by a certified professional, there is no new colonialism, capitalism or bad under belly intentions in the answer posted by Andy.

One last comment, if Hollywood movies are the source of your English language and manners, I can assure you that these are just movies and nothing more, English speaking people are just normal people

Ahmed, Andy,

- I repeat myself, but anyway. What you say of the GPL is also true for the BSDL. Beyond the license, this is a question of courtesy: you must fully acknowledge the contribution of people in any time. I still (once again) do not manage to understand how you can imagine feeling free to confiscate the work of others without recognition simply because the work has been licensed under the BSDL instead of the GPL.

- Regarding the rest of your attitude and words: no comment, and I end the discussion here.

All the best.
