Simple approach - solid wood combustion (newbie..)

To anybody who can spare a few minutes to shoot a simple answer!!!

I am researching the most basic ways to model a simple, solid wood fire. I've been searching and browsing as much as I can and have yet to actually pose my case as in a question and see what people might suggest.

The general case is for a natural/bouyant aspirated wood fire in a very simple combustion chamber (stove). I am very new at combustion modeling and wood models are very tricky. I think my default will be to create a fuel zone (edge or area), and then use it as a pressure inlet of unmixed wood-volatiles. Any basic suggestions here?

...Thanks in advance!
