I am wondering about meshing and if it is worthing to develop its own capabilities (computer + CAO license + meshing license)...

I have heard that some consulting companies are not very expensive for meshing studies, specially in India.

Does anybody have worked with this kind of firm? Could you tell me about the prices and the mesh quality?

There are a lot of such companies in India. They charge around $18-$20 per hour and quality will be as per your requirement. If you are interested reply to this post along with your requirement(HM/ANSA/T-Grid mesh).

It is really less expensive than in US or Europe.. And what about the deadlines? Mayur are you in one of these companies or have you already worked with one of them? I'm looking for people who already outsource a mesh to an Indian consulting compagny... Thanks a lot

This charge is inclusive of everything... so if it takes 20 hours to clean-geometry/mesh the model you will be charged $18/hr*20hr + service tax(10%)... this is my understanding of the process..

I am working in an organisation which does CFD projects on contract... typically we get the full project.. i.e. we get the CAD data from customers and what they are looking for.. then from there we get the cleaned geometry/get flow-domain,mesh it, set the case and solve and post-process and send the results.. the rates I told u r for meshing only... solving and post-processing rates are much higher.

As for me I am working with mostly solver and post-processing... meshing is done automatically by FluidConnection(it takes the CAD data directly from CATIA and gives the volume mesh with any user intervention- only u need to specify the Boundary layer parameters and Cell sizes in various domains and the quality u want)..

dead-lines depend on what type of geometry it is... shouldn't take any longer than what you would take to do it.
