Sorry if this is too basic. When we use "top" command on linux or unix server, can someone tell me what do the labels for each column mean?

PR = ? NI = ? VIRT = ? RES = this is the actual memory being used, correct? SHR = ?

If you type in "man top" to bring the manual page up for the top command then all your questions should be answered. If the manual pages have not been installed then you need to go to your system administrator and get them installed.
