CFD book

Hi I am pretty new in CFD world, and i am using fluent. I will like to study the bases for running and understending it... So I am asking for a book that could provide me with the bases of CFD I am an engineer so I have some bases of phisics and Maths, but i really would like to begin from the beggining Thanks Rafael

Re: CFD book

Do you wanna understand how to use Fluent or you wanna understand physics of CFD? In first case you need to do as many tutorials as you can and read the Fluent documentation as much as possible. In second case there are three very good introductory books out there on CFD.

a) "Computational Fluid Dynamics" by John Anderson

b) "Introduction to Computational Fluid Dynamics" (something like that by Veersteeg

c) "Introduction to turbulence modelling" by Wilcox.

The names of books and authors are not exact but you can look for them on google. If you are using LES you will need to read books on LES in addition to above books. I have not found any good LES books so far, if you do, please let me know.

Re: CFD book

for control volume (finite volume) method the book by patankar is the best one to begin. Patankar, S.V. (1980), Numerical Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow, McGraw-Hill Book Company.

another choice is: Versteeg, H.K. and Malalasekera, W. (1995), An Introduction to Computational Fluid Dynamics, The Finite Volume Method, Longman Book Publisher.

Re: CFD book

Thanks very much for your answer. I will have a look for all of them. I am more interested in physics and maths rather than fluent... there are several codes but I really would like to know what is happening inside the box. Thank you a lot.
