Where to find airfoils with more coordinates pts?

Hi,

I need to obtain coordinates of some airfoil to be used in my simulation. Some airfoils have an exact formula such as those NACA 4 digit airfoils. However, some others do not. I searched online and found that in some database, the airfoil only has about 30 coordinates while in some others, the same airfoil has 130 pts.

Currently, I'm searching for the coordinates of the Selig s1020 airfoil. Does anyone know if there's a formula etc for these airfoils? Else how are their coordinates being determine?

Where can I find these airfoils with more coordinates pts, especially near the curvature? Do I have to do interpolation myself?

Thank you

Dear KB,

Most airfoils do not have a closed form expression available for their profile. I do not know any site where reasonably good number of coordinates are available, but UIUC database is a good one for a large number of airfoils. One possibility is to download the data and then do a curve fit (such as NURBS) and then extract as many points as you like to have.

Hope this helps.

Ganesh
