ICEM : Smooth transition option

Hi,
In ICEM 10.0 there was an option called "smooth transition" to create nice tetrahedral meshes. Does anyone know where have this option gone in ICEM 11.0 ? Or how can I prevent mesh elements from switching too fast from small to bigger sizes ? Thanks, Felix |

The 'Smooth Transition' option essentially ran the standard Octree mesher, tossed all the volume elements (leaving only the triangular surface mesh), then re-filled the volume with tets using the Delauney method. You can do the same after-the-fact if you Mesh Tets from Surface Mesh. (I'm not sure where that is in the 11.0 GUI, but that's the general idea.)

Thanks Myron,
This is very interesting. I'll see what I can do with this info. I appreciate your help, Felix |

I think the smooth transition option is in the global setting parameters for delaunay method in ICEM 11.0

Hello Omkar,
I think you are right. I haven't try it yet but it looks like it has been renamed "Spacing scaling factor". I'll try it soon. What is sure for now is that using Delaunay mesher instead of Octree gives results similar to the "smooth transition" option in ICEM 10.0 (at that time I was sure it only ran Octree even with this option checked). Thanks to both of you, Felix |
