LES and Symmetry?

I am simulating detached flow over a wing using LES. I was wondering if it is common to use a symmetry plane to reduce the computational cost by a factor of two (only simulating one side of the wing). I know that the symmetry condition will not be physically accurate at the symmetry plane for LES.
However, it may be "close enough". Is this done ever in practice, or is LES always computed on a full geometry (without a symmetry plane). I've attached an image of my simulation with the symmetry plane. Notice the non-physical vortical structures at the mid-plane. Thank you, John |

if you are interested on all the physical aspects over the wing you cannot use symmetry conditions
