Default Export CFD Solver results to text file format

Hello,

I'm a computer graphics student and did some CFD simulations at the university lab with a software called UGS NX5. I used the Advanced Simulation Environment and did a Flow simulation for external air flow around an obstacle.

Everything works fine so far, but I'm a bit lost about exporting functionality. As my purpose is to visualize the results myself, I need to be able to read the solver's results. Does NX5 allow such an operation?

Ideally, I would get an .XML or .VRML file containing the results.

Can you help me out? I assume that portability of such data is not intended by the software manufacturer, however I'm sure I'm not the first person trying such a thing.

I'd love to hear hints or even recommendations about other CFD software that writes into open file formats.

Regards Maik

I'm not familiar with the CAD software market. I did check the website and found a pretty drastic warning about 'piracy'. Since you're in a university, the university should have a license and - support from the company who sells the software.

Have you asked the company how to get the output you need?

Hi,

no I haven't asked them, but that's a good idea. I'm going to do that. Thanks
