Arterial pulse pressure
 
Hi guys,

I want to check how local geometry of arteries affects the pulse pressure (how fast pressure rises) so I am trying to perform some kind of pressure analysis.

In my simplified model I have two inlet lids and one outlet lid (as letter Y). Two pulse pressures enter separately through inlet lids and converge. I am using rigid walls conditions, pressure function as a inlet boundary conditions (with one pulse being "released" 5 ms later than the other; experimentally obtained data) and constant flow rate as outlet boundary condition.

I have a problem with pulse pressure propagation. Since the rigid walls are assumed should pulse have an infinite speed? I am getting expected data with different lag times... but some people are not convinced.

Any thoughts...

you cannot model arteria by rigid walls... the propagation of the pulse is at different (finite) velocity than convective velocity propagation of blood.
