boiling heat transfer: h = hL*v^n ??????
 

Hi!

I found a paper, where the heat transfer coefficient h from a hot surface into an evaporating liquid is expressed with following equation:

h = hL*v^n

where hL is a heat transfer coefficient that depends on the surface temp and on the state of the liquid, v is the velocity magnitude in the wall nearest cell and n is a constant, n = 0.5

Does ANYONE know, where this equation came from??? For me, it looks like an experimental fit. BUT it of course depends on the cell size, how much of it is inside the BL.

Any idea???
