flow-structure analysis

I want to do research on the flow-structure interaction problem. I need to make both flow and solid-stress calculations for the same system. Because of the differing methodologies of the CFD and Stress Analysis codes, I must code myself, combining both finite Volume and Finite Element, or one new single algorithm to solve the Navier-Stokes equations of fluid, the displacement equation of the solid, the thermal-energy equation at the same time.

Where can I find the internet resource and reference book. thanks

Re: flow-structure analysis

Do you want to do it yourself, or are you open to using commercial codes for doing it.

CFD-ACE+ from CFD Research Corporation has exactly what you need: A coupled fluid-thermal-structural interaction capability. It does use Finite Elements for stress analysis and Finite Volume for the fluid part.

Please visit our website for more information. You would find relevant informaiton at http://www.cfdrc.com/datab/software/software_index.html. Look under CFD-FEMSTRESS.

Re: flow-structure analysis

you don't need to write your own code. many commercial cfd and fea codes can be linked to perform complicated fluid structure analysis. if you already have a CFD /FEA code available you can contact the customer service or read the manuals to find out how you can solve the problem you want

Maybe you can contact the guy from Computational Dynamics Ltd. You can visit their web www.cd.co.uk, they have good solution for flow-structure analysis code called COCOLIB Good Luck
