LES: fully developed flow at the inlet of a duct

Hi guys

I wanna impose fully developed flow at the inlet of a duct. I do not have much time so what will be best option to do that. All kind of ideas are welcome. Thanks in advance for your help.

If you look up Frank White's Fluid mechanics you will get solution for fully developed laminar flow in a duct. You can then impose fluctuations on it if you want turbulent flow at inlet.

Hi agg

Thats exactly what I was looking for. How do I impose fluctuations at the inlet? There is no such facility in CFX to do that. Thanks

Is it possible to read in inlet profiles every few time steps in CFX? If so, you could have a set of files that you create with the fluctuations superimposed on the mean laminar profile and have CFX read it.

But that would only give me interior fluctuations, I was trying to obtain fluctuations at the inlet boundary. Thank you for your answer.
