go to book section on cfd-online.com
You can download book called Fundementals of computational Fluid Dynamics By Harvard Lomax and Thomas H. Pullam NASA Ames Research Centre. |

(1). It is very simple. (2). CFD is Computational Fluid Dynamics. That is to use a computer to solve fluid dynamics problem. (3). If you prefer to use experimental approach, then I would call it EXPFD. (4). So, you need to know something about a computer, computer programming, in addition to the basic fluid dynamic knowledge. (5). So, if you know how to write a computer program and also know some fluid dynamics, then you can start doing CFD. (6). There are books about CFD and different ways to solve different types of equations in fluid dynamics. You can pick the one wich will match your background. (7). If you had heat conduction before and knows how to use numerical methods to solve heat conduction problem, then you should not have any problem at all. (8). The rule is: Do not touch a commercial CFD code, unless you are prepared to ask a sequence of endless questions. (9). Commercial CFD codes are for people who are interested in the CFD solutions, not the CFD code questions.

Sadly, speaking from experience, I couldn't agree more with John's point (8) and (9). =(

DEAR MR BASU; LET ME INTRODUCE MYSELF AS ONE UNDER THE NAME NARAYANAN RIGHT NOW DOING MY MASTERS IN CHEM ENGG AT THE FRIEDRICH ALEXANDER UNIV HERE AT ERLANGEN. I HAVE DECIDED TO FOCUS MYSELF TOWARDS THE FIELD OF CFD FOR WGICH I REQUIRE A COMPLETE GUIDELINE TO START MY WORK FROM SCRATCH. I HAVE DECIDED TO HAVE U AS MY LEAD FOR ME TO EXCEL IN THIS FIELD AND SO PLEASE DO THE NEEDFUL. PLEASE SEND ME THE DETAILS TO MY MAIL ID AND I WISH WE HAVE CONTACT IN FUTURE EVEN TO DO REALLY SOMETHING IN THIS FIELD. HOPING FOR A REPLY SOON FROM U SOON URS TRULY NARAYAN |
