Flow-3D

Any comment on Flow-3D??? For modelling water waves.

Re: Flow-3D

Hi,

What exactly do you want to do? Modelling waves can be very tricky because of the nature of the problem. You have moving boundaries, and I would not trust any of the commercials programs that are available.

Re: Flow-3D

is that mean , I should write my own code?

Re: Flow-3D

I am afraid so. You could find programs (like femlab or fluent) that will try to model your problem, but I would not trust them.

Re: Flow-3D

Perhaps a user of Flow-3D , could give me a better advise. Is here any user of Flow-3D?

Re: Flow-3D

I have not yet developed codes to simulate 3D flows, but I did develop code to simulate waves in 2-D.

Re: Flow-3D

are you using fortran for this.

yes

Re: Flow-3D

could you teach me how to make a code like this. I know some fortran

Re: Flow-3D

What physical program do you want to model? Which method do you want to use to solve the system of eqns?

Re: Flow-3D

can't answere this question as I am not sure which one is easy to model and which one is more accurat.... Your suggestion please?

Re: Flow-3D

?? I am quite lost!

You are asking for my help, but you are not telling me what you want to do!

What physical problem are you trying to solve? What are the boundary conditions? What is the geometry of your problem?

Re: Flow-3D

hello

sorry for interrupt your conversation. i was usinf flow 3d for that and create waves by putting high pressure in the boundary intake.

now i took star ccm 3.04 it has automated wave generation...............

Re: Flow-3D

Hi jecil. as you have used flow-3D, was you happy with that. which one you think is doing a better job...starrccm or flow-3D. could you tell anything that you didn't like in flow-3D?

Re: Flow-3D

Hi Jecil. I have starccm+ , is there any tutorial to create waves in this new version. if not then please give me few instructions . so that I could set it up. Thanks

Re: Flow-3D

Which version of FLOW-3D are you using? Since version 9.2 on (now the last release is 9.3) you can model directly from the gui many kind of waves!
