BOOK ON OPTIMIZATION OF FORTRAN CODES

Hi to everybody. It's 1 year that I'm working on finite-volume methods for fluid dynamic problems. I write codes in Fortran and my knowledge about Fortran is good. But I lack knowledge about the optimization of the code, i.e. how to write the code making it runs in the fastest way. In fact my codes work well and give espected results but are SLOW!!! Can you suggest me a free pdf book where I can find these information? I did a research online but I have just found book like:"introduction to " and no mention in the index about optimization. The book i used to learn fortran has the same characteristics,it describes the command but nothing about the optimization. For now I mean optimization for a code running in a single computer, but i will be also interested in parallel optimization in the future. Also if you know about "not free" book it's ok anyway. thanks a lot alberto

Re: BOOK ON OPTIMIZATION OF FORTRAN CODES

While it is not free and not exclusive to Fortran, I find "Code Complete" to be a worthwhile read. It does have chapters on profiling and optimization, and various tips to speed up codes.
