degree of freedom

Dear friends:

Would you plese tell me what is the meanning of "degree of freedom".

and what is the meanning of this sentense:

Each degree of freedom in the large DOF flow simulation corresponds to a dimension in Euclidean "N-space" regards

Re: degree of freedom

A "degree of freedom" in this case means one dimension in space. Hence, if you do a simulation with two degrees of freedom movement is only allowed in two dimensions, say x and y, and you are doing a 2D simulation. I hope that helps.
