Hi everyone:
This is my first post here and i want to request your opinion about which software applies best for the specific problem that i have to solve. I am an hydralic engineer and I am recently working on the construction of a large hydroelectrical run-of-river project in Chile. Usually a project of this kind have a simple layout: an intake, a channel, a forebay, a penstock (high pressure pipe) and a turbine located inside a powerhouse. However, this project that i'm working on, has a very complex layout: 6 intakes, a 2 kilometers of open flow channel, a disander, 15 to 20 kilometers of pressurized tunnels with junctions and diversions, reservoirs, caverns, and discharge tunnels. The idea of the people that hired me is to built a 3D model of the entire plant, which will be able to simulate both steady and unsteady state calculations (hydraulic transient analysis, like water hammer and mass oscilation problems). Additionally, the software must be able to prepare nice videos and pictures of the model, that will be used to show in presentation to the board and lenders. As far as i know, this is not a typical requirement for a CFD software. That's why i ask this question on this forum. Any thoght of idea about it will be very appreciated. Best regards PD: sorry for my bad english. |
