180 degrees bend flow

Hello,

does someone have experience simulating a flow through a 180 degrees bend with rectangular cross section and baffles inside. Is it possible to maintain the recirculation zone at the inner radius with the standard k-epsilon model with standard wall functions ? Or is it more promising to use a low-re version ? Some experimentalists told me that they observed an unsteady flow field after passing the bend while before the bend the flow field was steady. Is there a physical reason for getting transient ? Perhaps due to the baffles ?

Thanks for your comments,

Tim
