Hello!

I need to calculate the drag and lift forces on an immersed body in water using Abaqus CAE 6.14. I am currently using Abaqus CFD to model the fluid domain. I will need later to couple it with solid body model in Abaqus Standard using fluid structure interaction (FSI).The body has a rectangular shape.

I was wondering if I can calculate the drag and lift forces directly from the model output. I couldn't find in the reported literature any direct method for estimating them using either the experiments or CFD simulations outputs.

I would be grateful if someone can advise me on this, as I am from different research area and just got started with the CFD simulations.

Thank you very much.

Regards
Ismail
