Combustion, ignition limits and dealy
Dear sirs,
I have problem concerning solving equations which have to describe ignition (ignition limits and ignition delay) in the hot vessel (e.g. IC engine). I made a system where are coupled following equations: -molecular transport -chemical reaction -convection -thermodynamic (heat production by chemical reactions and heat losses to the vessel wall) -reaction with vessel surface. All equations are time dependent. I try to find dependence at which temperatures, pressures and compositions a mixture can be ignited. My question is if these equations can be solving analytically or only numerically? Second, is this problem is more or less in CFD domain? And I would be happy if you can suggest me any software package(s)? With very best regards Nebojsa Milovanovic |
Re: Combustion, ignition limits and dealy
In my opininion combustion phenomena is only iterative solvebal, specially if you're interested in local conditions instead of overall average results for which you could probablly implement some empiric relations (which won't be easy to find - high geometry dependency).
Your problem could be nicelly treated with CFD, I'm using the code FIRE for instance, where transient spray, combustion and wallfilm conditions are simulated for IC engines (autoignition-diesel, external ignition source - spark), where a lot of possibilities exist to tune your settings. Thank you Gregor very much. I will try to obatin taht code. Hope to continue converstion with you in the future Best regards Nebojsa
