airfoil-litterature

Hi all,

I'm involved in studying an airfoil for racing cars. At the moment I'm trying a good mesh using a NACA 6-series profile. Does anyone point to me a papers (or anything else) in which I could find a compareison between experimental data (Wind Tunnel)and numerical simulation for drag and lift coefficients? Maria Teresa

Hi,

There is an extensive appendix in:

"Theory of Wing Sections" By Abbott and Von Doenhoff

That has some experimental data on NACA airfoils. You should be able to get a good sense of your results from this reference. The book only has experimental data. As for comparisons, you should be able to find a couple of papers dealing with airfoils as code and/or turbulence model test cases.....I have seen a few on the NACA 00XX, GAW(1)--LS0417, and NLF series airfoils. I don't know what foil you are looking at, but if you need more help I *may* be able find more if you have some more details (what Airfoil?, Code type(FVM, FD, FEM and turbulence model assumptions) etc.).

Anyways....good Luck with the modelling....hope this helps,

DjW
