Default DNS and spectral method

In relation to the subject, currently I am using a number of turbulence models to estimate the tubulent fluxes for turbulent flow and heat transfer computations. I would be glad if I can have a brief description about what DNS and spectral method can offer, and if it is possible the solution prosedure prinsipally employed to solve the flow and heat transfer problems
