I am studying about the fundamental of the Gas-solids flow.I have a question about the Gas-solids flow.
1. What is the Mass loading ratio. 2. How to calculate the number of the particle at the inlet passage on the numerical solution.

1. Mass loading ratio(let MLR) is defined as (solid mass flow rate / gas mass flow rate). It is very important parameter. When MLR < 0.2, the flow is called as dilute phase flow and the effect of the presence of solid particle to the gas flow can be neglected. So, gas flow is not affected by the solid particle, whereas the behavior of solid particle is determined by the gas flow. When MLR > 0.2, the flow is called as dense phase flow and the effect of the presence of solid particle to the gas flow should be considered. So, gas and solid particle interact each other. When MLR exceeds unity(1.0), Eulerian-Lagrangin approach might have convergence problem. If volume fraction of solid particle exceeds 10-12%, Eulerian-Lagrangian approach can't be applicable. Instead, Eulerian-Eulerian approach can be applicable. And so on.
