Has anyone used FeatFlow?

I have FEATFlow in my machine(SunOs 5.6). I installed it an year back. I could run some example problems for 2-d and 3-d flows. Since I do not have VTK, I could not view the results and that is the main reason why I stopped using it. But I still wants to use it and give my contribution for its development. If any one can join me it will be better, we can learn from each other. Recently I have sent my request for the CDROM. I may get it within a couple of weeks.

Yes, I have been rather involved with using FeatFlow during the last 6 months, and have had the privilege of visiting their facility twice since October 2000.

I am planning to pursue post-graduate studies with Dortmund University during next year.

For post-viewing I use GMV, which runs well under Linux. FeatFlow will ouptut the relevant info into GMV format.

Can we use Visual3 along with FeatFlow? I think it must be possible but will you pl. tell me where and what are the modifications we have to do.

I have also downloaded FeatFlow on my Win98 machine. I am going to attempt to compile it using MSFortran. I have started with the makefiles directory, but there are so many of them. In addition, I do not have LaTex, so I can not read the manuals and can not follow the logic of the code.

Any help you can offer is appreciated,

Hi Sam,

There are instructions on the homepage for installing under MS$, and a complete project tree.

I suggest following the installation instructions mentioned above - things will really be much simpler.

I have used Compaq Fortran 6.1 with success. I seem to remember there being installation routines for MSFortran.

The manuals should also be available in html or postscript formats.

But to be brutally honest, I found it better to install the whole system under Linux (SuSE 7.0) and junk MS$.

The graphics viewing software GMV has been compiled for Linux.

My experience, once starting with Linux, was to strip MS$ from all my machines. I currently only have win2k set up as dual-boot with Linux on one machine - the rest are all Linux.

In the long run, this method turns out to be simpler, faster & less expensive.
