i am an undergraduate working on my thesis now,we are working on enhanced oil recovery related problems in steam injection. we are new to fluent but currently we encounter a problem where we do not see the porousmedia definition for shale, and might possibly assume SiO2 for sand but how about shale? i wish some one could help me soon.Thank you

Probably better to ask on the fluent forum.

In fluent you can define your own material definitions - from the material properties you know. For porous media you will need permeability and other drag constants (see manual, v1, ch6) and other properties like thermal conductivity. Its all in the manuals. So you could define a new material called shale for this application.
