Dear sir/Madam/Miss,

Hi, I am Kong, a student in Mechanical Engineering, UM, Malaysia(Hope you know). I am currently taking NASA-VOF3D as my thesis title.

In deriving the momentum and energy equations (Navier-Stokes equations). The constant nu is assumed to be minus unity miu, in stead of -2/3 miu. Is there any reason to make such assumption? Will this affect much of the results?

Well, I am still a beginner in CFD. Hope you all can clarify me. Besides, I have a simply thought. Can we model the effect of surface tension in low gravity environment using mercury on earth? Where mercury has strong surface tension on earth, while it may be similar to water in low gravity environment. Did my idea make any sense?

If NASA-VOF3d uses CSF to model surface tension then the answer is no. If you have something better, then you have a hope to simulate it and get fairly correct results.. (give or take 20%)
