Hi, I would like to ask to all you CFD guys about information dealing with transition flow modeling using CFD.

Articles, books, software, web pages and any other source are more than wellcome.

I haven't found much so far.

Thanks a lot

Are you asking about transient (i.e.: time dependent) flow, or transition (i.e.: laminar to turbulent) flow?

They are very different things and those differences are very important.

You're right Alton, its the transition from laminar to turbulent in which I'm interesting. Thanks Newbie

(1). In the standard book by Schlichting, "boundary Layer Theory",it has two chapters on the transition, The origin of turbulence I and II. (2). It should give you the needed information. It is a very difficult field. (3). On the two-equation turbulence modeling side, low Reynolds number models have been used to capture the laminar, transitional and turbulent flow. (4). You can check the ASME/Journal of turbomachinery for papers on the turbine blade heat transfer cfd analysis. In this area, one must consider laminar, transitional and turbulent boundary layer for proper prediction of blade heat transfer.

The textbook indicated by John is classic and a logical starting point. For comprehensive introductions into more recent development in transition modelling try the AGARD publications R-709 ("Special Course on Stability and Transition of Laminar Flow" 1984) and R-793 ("Progress in Transition Modelling" 1994)
