I seek for help about rapid distorsion theory, specially, i would like to know if there is any real turbulent flow that RDT gives good approximation. thanks in advance.

As you may already know, RDT is mostly a linear theory which predicts the effect of rapid strain rates on turbulence. The time scale associated with the strain rate induced distortion is assumed to be much smaller than the inertial time scales (i.e., time scale associated with modal interactions).
Turbulent flow across a shock wave (I am guessing) fits the bill perfectly. If the transit time across the flame is much smaller than the turbulence time scales, flow across a turbulent flame (actually flame brush in turbulent flows) also can perhaps be studied using RDT. |
